~~ Merry Christmas & 'The Holiday'

To actually watch this movie I procrastinated. I really didn't think that I would enjoy it however, I was wrong. I enjoyed the movie for 2 reasons. 1. I loved Kate Winslet's character Iris and Eli Wallach's character Arthur. So fun and touching. 2. I loved the movie set.

The interiors were so well thought out. Iris' cottage is sweet, homey and welcoming. Amanda's place was, well it was nice, yet not homey or welcoming. Don't get me wrong I loved the sleek, spacious interior but it lacked warmth.

Iris' cottage - so warm and welcoming. So tiny but you felt you could throw a party for 20 people and everyone would be comfortable.

Cote de Texas' blog featured these and a whole host of other interior shots from this movie a while ago. I had lifted them from her wonderful blog and saved them to my computer. So when thinking about a holiday post. The Holiday seemed the perfect choice.

It is a really good example of how important set design is -- and notice that they ended up in Iris' cottage for NYE, not in the sleek modern house. That "homey" coupled-up atmosphere was exactly what the writer appeared to be going for.

I really want the blue ottoman. It would be perfect for my own set, right here.

NYE was in Graham's house not in the cottage.
